When Marg T. started noticing that some people seem to talk quietly and are difficult to understand, she wanted to know the source of the challenge.
"I didn't know if it was just a lot of quiet talkers or if it really was me," shares Marg. "Or maybe it was a combination of both."
She looked for a hearing clinic to understand the state of her hearing and get answers to her questions. The first hearing centre she went to affirmed that hearing aids would assist with understanding people that speak quietly, but their recommendations "felt very high pressure," says Marg.
She wasn't ready to make the major decision. Instead, she waited before looking for a different hearing centre to get another perspective.
"I went to see Carson at Hearing Care Clinic to try again, and I just found him completely different," describes Marg.
"He was very kind and I felt very comfortable with him and didn't feel any pressure." After outlining the options for hearing aids, Carson reassured her that she could take time to decide when to proceed.
"Carson is very calm and efficient," describes Marg. "He's a warm and relaxing person, and that's who you want."
It was Carson's welcoming and genuine approach that inspired her to introduce her husband, Tom, to Hearing Care Clinic. She noticed signs of hearing challenges – such as the television needing to be turned louder.
"I'm not sure that he realized his hearing loss at first," says Marg. "I was much more aware than he was, so I really had to persuade him to go and get his hearing checked."
Marg's positive experience with Carson made her confident in recommending his services to Tom. After he received a hearing test and decided to get hearing aids, he was quickly convinced that the hearing aids were the solution to a problem he didn't even realize impacted his daily life.
The benefits of the hearing aids far outweighed his initial concerns. Tom was also amazed at their discreetness.
"One of the biggest surprises to Tom was the fact that you really can't tell he's got them in, unless you look behind his ear," she says.
When Marg decided to also get hearing aids, she was grateful to be able to hear people in group situations and understand others who spoke quietly. She noticed she could hear sounds that she wasn't expecting.
"I realized when I got my hearing aids, there was an awful lot that I just wasn't hearing before," such as quiet noises around the house that aren't necessary to hear. "It was reassuring to hear the noises."
While Marg and Tom attribute the success of their hearing aids to Carson's dedication to their well-being, they appreciate they could go through the experience of new hearing aids together.
"It felt very rewarding because it's something that we have done together," says Marg.
"We've been able to support each other."
Their experience was reassuring and life-changing, and it inspired them to recommend Carson and Hearing Care Clinic to several friends.
"We know what else is out there in the hearing aid world," she says. "And we want our friends to have the same seamless and pleasant experience that we did with Carson."
Marg describes Carson as a "genuine person."
"You can tell that he really wants his clients to be happy, and he goes above and beyond to make that happen."
